Systemic Drivers

Knowledge is power

Almost all interactions that a patient has with their health care provider are mediated by parties with diametrically opposed interests. There is nowhere to go to get advice from educated individuals who can help tackle issues and review options without being beholden to either your employer or your insurance company (both of whom are, actively, interested in seeing you recover the minimum possible value of your benefits).

There are ways to get public services and to hire independent social workers, billing agents and insurance specialists, but those channels are super expensive, time intensive or so low-profile that no one knows they exist.

Outside of the standard insurance company marketplaces, there is no dominant platform that drives connections to clinicians .

Unfortunately, holistic care isn’t always covered by insurance.

Smaller holistic practitioners without big network affiliations may not have the resources to market/promote themselves to clients.

Membership clubs and on-demand service apps are popular. Yet, there is, no popular application to help busy people circumvent the busy-work of managing their holistic care needs.

The US Healthcare System can seem overwhelming and purpose-built to confuse.

Monopolies, Insurance jargon, unintelligible billing and providers that operate in their own silos mean that Americans have to manage entirely on our own, often, without adequate education on how to access care that extends outside of the bounds of the doctor’s office.

This environment makes it equally difficult for holistic care providers to survive independently or create smaller trusted, accessible niche care networks.

The Problem

Marketplace

Why does it feel so revolutionary to create a marketplace that enables the connection between clients and clinicians or specialists?

Social Drivers

Solutions

Community

We believe that the key to our success will be the holistic approach.

To promote balance in our own ecosystem, we strive to create and nurture an environment that brings value to and promotes health in the lives of our users.

The Client is empowered to live life to its fullest.

The Clinician is supported to thrive in independent practice.

The Specialist is compensated for connecting community members to holistic care resources.

Technology

At a high level, the below technologies are the ones that will power our marketplace.

AI Recommendation Engines - To connect clients to clinicians.

Telehealth Tech To connect clients to specialists.

Social Network - To support the creation of trust networks within community.

Integrations - To make use of data otherwise maintained in partner sysetms.

Human Expertise - To balance computations with compassion and real world expertise.

Medical Literacy Gaps
Most people receive little guidance on how to navigate the healthcare system and utilize supportive holistic services like social workers, home health aides, doulas, and therapists to meet all of their care needs beyond just clinical treatment.

Opportunity Medical Literacy & Health Education Initiatives.

Insurance jargon and opaque billing
The convoluted insurance landscape with complex terms, codes, and lack of pricing transparency makes it very difficult for ordinary people to understand and navigate the system effectively.

Opportunity Pricing and billing transparency to protect against predatory financial practices.

Monopolies and lack of competition
Consolidation in the healthcare industry, where few large players dominate certain markets, can indeed reduce choices for consumers and weaken negotiating power over pricing.

Opportunity Re-think the concept of a healthcare ‘network’ towards a patient/provider-centric model instead of one that centers the insurance providers.

Fragmented provider networks
The siloed nature of different healthcare providers operating independently, without seamless integration and data sharing, creates discontinuity in holistic patient care management.

Opportunity Data integration & sharing that meets HIPAA standards.

Operational Challenges for Smaller Providers
The operational complexities and reimbursement models make it tough for smaller, boutique, or specialty care providers and networks to be viable and accessible for patients.

Opportunity Provide accessible operational, financial, and media tools for providers.

Exploring Opportunity

As we move from ideation and review of our market research, we approach the MVP design phase and that objective has us thinking that there is an opportunity to innovate the space via new inventions, but, that repurposing technology from other industries also holds promise.

When we look at the systemic healthcare issues that drove us to envision this project, it is easy to get overwhelmed, but, when we take a step back and look at them separately, we can immediately identify plenty of opportunity to make substantial and impactful ways to educate our communities and improve access holistic care.
